Thoracic cross section at T6 - Erler Zimmer

This model provides a cross-sectional view of the thorax at the T6 vertebra level. Starting from the posteromedial region within the vertebral canal, the costovertebral joints of the 6th ribs are visible. Moving radially outward, you can observe several other ribs that encircle the thoracic cavity. A pair of ribs connect anteriorly to the sternum via the costosternal joints. Additionally, the esophagus and descending aorta are visible, positioned anteriorly and laterally to the T6 vertebral body, respectively.
Within the pleural space, lined by the parietal pleura, you can find the inferior and middle lobes of the right lung and the inferior lobe of the left lung.
In the middle mediastinum, the heart enclosed by the pericardium is sectioned to reveal the left atrium in the posterior aspect. Moving clockwise, you can observe the aortic valve, right ventricle, and the right atrium.
