Kaltostat is an algalea patch made partly of brown seaweed, rich in cellulose (up to 50%) and in sodium calcium ions. Upon its contact with the wound secretions, it creates a viscous gel which keeps the trauma surface wet, thus stimulating and promoting the healing process, and also making its replacement easier and painless. It has a slightly hemostatic action, and four times greater absorption rate than the standard bandage.
