What is a Cube Pessary

Vaginal cube pessary that can help with the symptoms of a cystocele, a rectocele as well as a 2nd or 3rd degree uterine prolapse. The cube pessary "sticks" to the vaginal wall due to its concave surfaces.

Some patients may find this effect too strong or slightly uncomfortable. If that is the case, the cube pessary with drains is preferred.

How does the vaginal pessary work?

This particular vaginal pessary, shaped like a cube, creates negative pressure against the walls of the vagina. This allows it to remain stable while providing organ support and elevation.

What is the Cube pessary made from?

Vaginal pessaries are made from safe materials that do not cause any damage on the reproduction system. The products are made of pleasantly soft, durable and hygienic silicone.

What can a cube pessary treat?

Uterus prolapse

The uterus is supported by the ‘hammock-like’ combination of pelvic floor muscles, tissue and ligaments.
When these structures are too weak the uterus slips downwards from its natural anatomical position into the vaginal cavity.
In severe cases in some women it may be visible outside the vagina.

Cystocele

A cystocele occurs when the bladder pushes into the vagina. Depending on the grade of prolapse this can be from a grade one where the bladder bulges into the vaginal wall to the most severe where the bulge appears through the entrance of the vagina.

Rectocele

A rectocele is a bulge in the front wall of the rectum into the rear wall of the vagina. If the rectal wall becomes thinned, the weakening of the wall often causes a bulge which can obstruct bowel movement.

Proper Cleaning Instructions for Vaginal Pessaries

The pessary should be removed regularly. To do this, clean the pessary only with soapy water that is not too hot and then rinse carefully with warm water.

Always make sure you control for cracks and damage. A pessary with any deep cracks or scratches should be discarded and replaced immediately.
